On Wednesday 3 June, the researcher of the DUAL project, Dr. Carla Garcia-Lozano, appeared on the TV3 programme Tot es mou to address the challenges facing the Catalan coastline in the context of climate change impacts and coastal retreat.
During the programme, participants discussed how the coast may evolve in the coming decades and what strategies will need to be implemented to adapt to a context marked by rising sea levels, more intense storms, and the progressive loss of beaches. In this context, the need to move towards more sustainable management models, based on scientific knowledge and the restoration of natural coastal processes, was highlighted.
The programme also featured the participation of Aron Marcos, Councillor for Urban Ecology at the City Council of Calafell, one of the main areas of intervention of the project. During his contribution, he explained the actions being implemented in the municipality to address coastal regression and increase the resilience of beaches against the effects of storms and climate change. These actions make Calafell a benchmark example in the implementation of nature-based solutions for coastal management.
