The DUAL project (Urban Dunes for Coastal Adaptation) promotes the restoration and conservation of dune systems in coastal urban areas through nature-based solutions. With a duration of three years and the participation of universities, administrations and research centres from Catalonia and Occitania, the project integrates scientific, technical and educational actions to promote adaptation to climate change and the resilience of coastal environments. DUAL combines technology (such as the use of drones and interactive maps), environmental management and citizen participation to create more natural, sustainable and vibrant urban spaces, where biodiversity and quality of life go hand in hand.

This map shows the three study areas of the DUAL project: Calafell, l’Estartit and Argelès. At these coastal points, urban dune restoration actions are being carried out, combining technology, environmental management and citizen participation. Through interactive web maps, the results and evolution of each intervention can be followed.
